"Will the bridesmaid's dress suit the wedding decor? "
Put 'June bridesmaid' into Google search, and the first page that came up was about the bridesmaid's dress. It would appear that none of the highest ranking websites mentioning a bridesmaid were remotely interested in the bridesmaid herself, her comfort, her happiness, or her understanding of the responsibilities of the position as attendant to the bride.
It appeared that the number one purpose of the bridesmaid, as far as those websites are concerned, is her role as a decorative object. The focus was fully on the bridesmaid's DRESS. What colour should the dress be? What were the current fashion colours for the bridesmaid's dress? Should the bridesmaid's dress be long or short? Would the classic little black dress be an ideal choice?
Many a bridesmaid would be justified in screaming, "I'm not a just part of the decor, I am me!"
Being a bridesmaid is both a joy and a burden for some women.
Actress Anna Kendrick said on the Late Show With Seth Meyers. "I have potentially avoided making any close female friends because I don't want to be a bridesmaid."
The Evening Standard published an article reading down the amount of work (around 43 hours) and expense (around A$529) involved in being a bridesmaid.
